The Mahkato Mdewakanton Association is a gathering of nations to celebrate and honor our traditions and ancestors; to reconcile and build bridges between all nations through education, storytelling, and sharing Dakota Indian culture

In the spirit of reconciliation, Mahkato Mdewakanton Association is committed to healing and enriching the experiences of Dakota and non-Dakota communities through the preservation and sharing of Dakota history, traditions and culture.


Powwow Details

Just to clear up any confusion or rumors out there - WE WILL BE HAVING THE POWWOW THIS WEEKEND!!!

The committee is so excited to see everyone at the powwow this weekend! We have been working hard to get everything ready for many months and taking care of all the last minute details this week!

We are NOT cancelled and are ready for a great powwow weekend! See you all at Land of Memories Park soon!

The Mahkato Wacipi Committee has reserved the Land of Memories Park for free camping for the entire powwow weekend (Friday-Sunday) . If you are planning to arrive on Thursday or before for the powwow, you will be responsible for camping fees. No exceptions!

NEW THIS YEAR: Anyone wanting to camp (tent or RV) on sites A, B, or C at Land of Memories Park, must contact Jim at 612-978-0964.

UPDATE: All camping sites and sections are full! We are working on overflow but nothing is guaranteed. Please check other area accommodations for the weekend of the powwow!
