Next Meeting: Our first meeting is set for Thursday, April 17th ... 7-9pm at the regular location in Mankato, Snell Motors community room. (corner of Madison Ave. & Hwy 22)

Our meeting schedule: The 3rd Thursday of each month through August. Unless otherwise noted, All meetings are at Snell Motors in their Community Room at 7:00 PM.

Volunteers Needed for this year's Mankato Pow wow!

If you are interested in helping out or you need mandated community hours, please read through the following information.

Shift hours, days, and job descriptions are listed under the volunteer committee area on this web site. Volunteers completing 6 or more hours for the event will receive a certificate from the club. We need approximately 60-80 volunteers for the weekend.

Getting actively involved in this event offers an opportunity to learn about Native American culture and traditions. Make a difference and volunteer!!

Oyate Crafts

A group of inmates at South Dakota State Prison in Sioux Falls are attempting to form an arts and crafts collective to enable themselves to purchase materials, create arts and crafts, and sell these products to generate an income to be used to purchase personal items such as: coffee, envelopes for writing home, personal hygiene items, etc. Click Here

Dakota Commemorative March 2006
On November 7, 2006, in both 2002 and 2004, Dakota people from the United States and Canada will begin a 150-mile long Commemorative March through southern Minnesota in honor of their ancestors who were forcibly removed from the Lower Sioux Agency to concentration camps at Mankato and Fort Snelling in November of 1862. For the Dakota this commemoration signifies an opportunity to remember and grieve for the suffering endured by their ancestors as well as to relate a perspective of the event which has rarely been told.
