Although it is one of the smallest of the 11 reservations in Minnesota, Prairie Island has a rich history that is full of glory and sadness. The success of the tribally-owned Treasure Island Resort & Casino is giving the tribe a new opportunity for glory.

Each part of the Mankato Area Schools supports the other. Our faculty, staff and students work together to create a positive and productive working environment.


The Mahkato Mdewakanton Association is 501(c)3 corporation whose purpose is to promote closer ties with our Native American communities. We conduct an annual pow wow and other cultural events throughout the year.
